Something to do together
Making homemade pizza and letting everyone choose their own toppings

Making homemade pizza is something everyone can help with. Younger kids can spread sauce and sprinkle cheese. Older kids can roll out dough or chop toppings. Everyone gets to create exactly what they want. You don't need fancy ingredients. Store-bought dough works fine, or use English muffins or pita bread. Set out bowls of sauce, cheese, and whatever toppings you have. The best part is everyone sits down to eat something they made themselves. It takes about an hour from start to finish. Put on some music while you cook.
One Small Organization Win
Setting up a homework basket
A homework basket by the front door can save you time and stress every single day. Each evening, your child puts completed homework in the basket for you to check and sign. Then they pack their backpack, lunch box, library books, and anything else needed for school. In the morning, everything is ready to grab on the way out. This removes the morning scramble and the search for forgotten items. Make it part of the bedtime routine. The key is keeping it simple. One basket, one spot, same time every night.
Game to play together
UNO (classic card game)

Uno is a card game that works for almost any age. Kids as young as five can play with help, and teenagers still find it entertaining. A round takes about 15 minutes.
The rules are straightforward. Match the color or number of the card on top. Special cards let you skip turns or make players draw cards. What makes Uno good for families is that luck matters as much as strategy.
Younger kids have a real chance of winning. The game moves quickly, so no one gets bored. Playing together gives everyone a chance to talk and laugh.
Trivia for the family
A great ice breaker
Here are two questions to ask at dinner or during a car ride this weekend. For younger kids: What color is a giraffe's tongue? Most guess pink, but the answer is blue or purple. Giraffes have dark-colored tongues to protect them from sunburn while eating leaves all day. For older kids: What is the only continent with no active volcanoes? The answer is Australia. Every other continent has at least one, but Australia's last volcanic activity was thousands of years ago. Let everyone guess before sharing the answer.
Things worth knowing
A couple interesting facts

Science: Your brain uses about 20% of your body's energy, even though it only makes up about 2% of your body weight. That's why thinking hard can make you feel tired. Your brain works constantly, even when you're sleeping, processing information and keeping your body running.
Language Arts: The word "bookkeeper" has three sets of double letters in a row: two O's, two K's, and two E's. It's one of the few words in English that does this. These facts can spark curiosity and conversation during quiet moments together.
Before You Go
Have a calm weekend with your family. Rest when you can. Play if you feel like it. Don't worry about being productive or making the most of every moment. You'll all be ready for Monday when it comes.
Until next week,
